Discipleship 

At Clarksbury Church, we believe that being a Christian is more than simply attending church. Jesus calls us to follow Him, grow in Him, and help others follow Him. Discipleship is the lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus as we grow in our knowledge of God’s Word, deepen our relationship with Christ, serve His church, and take the gospel to the world.  Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19–20 is clear: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations… teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” The mission of the church is not simply to make converts, but to make disciples.

Why Discipleship Matters

Spiritual growth does not happen by accident. Just as a child grows through intentional care, teaching, and relationship, Christians grow as we devote ourselves to God’s Word, prayer, fellowship, worship, and service.  Discipleship helps us move from simply knowing about Jesus to knowing Jesus, from being spectators to becoming servants, and from receiving the gospel to sharing the gospel with others.  Our desire is to see every person at Clarksbury Church continually growing in Christ—regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey.

Our Sunday School and Bible study opportunities provide a place to study God’s Word, ask questions, build relationships, and grow together in faith. We believe the Bible is God’s Word and that faithful disciples are shaped by its truth.

We want to help the next generation know Christ, love His Word, and live faithfully for Him. Through age-appropriate teaching, fellowship, and activities, our children and students are encouraged to grow as disciples of Jesus.

Throughout the year, Clarksbury offers intentional opportunities for deeper study and spiritual growth. These studies are designed to help believers strengthen their biblical foundation, understand Christian doctrine, develop spiritual disciplines, and become better equipped to live for Christ.

Discipleship always leads to mission. As we grow in Christ, we are called to serve others and proclaim the gospel. We want to equip believers to use their gifts, serve the body of Christ, reach our community, and make disciples who will make disciples.
